Sewing: How to Make your Own Clasp Coin Purse Pattern

img_4942

Hello! Everyone! Welcome to my another post on “How to Make your Own Clasp Coin Purse” Before you move on to cut out the fabric, you will have to make your own pattern for this. Because the clasp which is the frame, come in different sizes. But if you buy those pattern kit that comes with the material inside, usually they will include the pattern piece. As for this I watch from some of the videos tutorial and I’ve try to make one of my pattern, so I goanna share with you how to do it !

img_4385-1

First you goanna take your clasp frame, trace the arc on a piece of paper. Just trace it carefully and you will get a nice one.

img_4387

Then adjust a bit to make it easier for yourself to see the arc shape. From the bottom of each side, measure a 1cm down.

img_4389

And also the diagonally 1cm for both side. As you can see the top there is a hole, mark out a vertically stroke, so that later you need to cut it.

img_4390

Slowly draw out the bottom arc shape and make a connection arc to each other. Next, from the top marking draw one line down.

img_4441Cut to half according to the marking line. Fold to half and trace the arc nicely so that the both side are balance.

img_4392

Once is balance, cut out the whole shape and you have your pattern piece. Label it so that next time if you want to make again, you will know what size.

img_4442And you’re done! Now you have your own pattern, time to make your very own coin purse! Check out on how to sew a coin purse with clasp

Sewing: How to Sew a Coin Purse with Clasp

img_4943

So here I goanna show you how to sew a coin purse with clasp frame, just follow step by step!

In the previous post, I show you how to make your own pattern for this coin purse project. So after you make your pattern piece, let make a coin purse!

Materials:

  • Fabric glue/White glue
  • Plier
  • Stick/Chopstick
  • Clasp frame
  • Paper cord
  • Fabric of your choice (outer piece)
  • lining fabric (inner piece)

img_4430Step 1 :

Using your pattern, cut out 2 piece inner and outer fabric.

img_4431Step 2 :

Align your outer piece right side facing each other.

img_4432

Step 3 :

Same to the inner piece, sew round the bottom arc shape.

*If you are using plain fabric for the inner piece, decide which side you wan to be the outside or can use any side.

img_4433

Step 4 :

After done with sewing, turn over both pieces.

img_4402-1

Step 5:

Slot in the inner piece, pin it in place sew and leave a hole on the top to turn over later on.

img_4403-1Step 6 :

Turn over and adjust the corner nicely. Top stitch the hole. You can use by hand or by machine. By hand will be nicer but this will be cover by the clasp so it won’t be seen.

img_4434

Next we goanna attach the clasp to the fabric.

img_4435

Step 7 :

Use the chopstick or stick and add glue to the clasp inner part, spread out the glue. (as picture shown)

img_4436

Step 8 :

This part is quite challenging. Once you have your glue in, attach the clasp to the fabric. You have to adjust it until it stick to the glue, than use the small piece of paper cord to slot it in.

Use a plier to clip the clasp gently, to make it tight so that it can clip on the fabric.

img_4437

img_4438

I’m using this paper cord, it comes in a roll. You can also try look out for packet or small portion in your local crafts store. They also comes in different thickness. Do check out for the size. If you are doing small coin purse, get the thinner ones.

3 Ways to Improve your English Language

open-book-1428428_1920

Hello! So here is another post on How to improve your English, just want to share some advise with you from my friend to help improve your English.

My English wasn’t that good.. so I keep try different ways to build up my English speaking and writing.

There are a few ways to try out.

Phone Apps : Grammar

They have Beginner pack to Advanced With practice and test. You can try practice and than do out the test. I quite like this app and I think it really helps. Of cause must be consistent enough, everyday do practice and test. (click on the link to download the app)

Read Book

Reading book is one of the best solution actually. When you read a paragraph, you can see and understand from the words given, and if you are not sure about the words just google it. Start with the children books if you are still beginner or get some simple easy reading books from your local book store. It’s easy! or can just get E book. Try to be consistent to read everyday. But remember, don’t stop half way randomly. Try to finish reading one full passage. So that it’s easy to remember where you stop at, and also you will remember the story better. Try to share with someone else the story you reading after finish one passage.

I have bought some books too, some recommends one like “Charlotte’s Web“, This is a interesting story book and I quite like it. “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” is a love story book, this is nice and it’s also helps you to understand love life with men and women. And I love dogs a lot, so I went to buy “Bailey Story” and A Dog’s Purpose”.

Do Assessment

Get Assessment book to do and correct the answers, each time you correct learn from the mistake you did and practice again. Keep doing and you will get it.

The key word here is to read more, do more and you can get it. I’m trying very hard to read and be consistent.. well, it takes time.. just be consistent this is what I can advise you. Some people hate to read or some don’t even read, like me is one of them.. but I can understand cause me myself don’t really read a lot, but I try to read. Every day can just read one passage, get your favourite book and maybe you will be interested to read. Who knows? Just try it yourself :)!

Hope this helps you!

Course in Taf.tc School

sparkler-677774_1920

So, previous post I wrote about the course I took this month.

I signed up another 2 more courses which is the “Sew top and Skirt” and “Sew Tops and Bottom with variation of collars”. This 2 courses will guide on how to sew basic top and skirt plus bottoms and shirt collars.

It seems to be fun, cause I have one classmate sharing with me her experience about the class. I was so excited to join cause it will be what I wanted to learn too. She was telling me at the end of the course , will have a project to sew your own blouse or shirt as a something called portfolio . So is like not bad .. This is what I wanted to have ..

So, what we did in class was testing out fabrics, and do experiments. Teacher ask to burn the fabric pieces and smell what is it like. Uhm? anyway, is just doing experiment. So I’m like ok.. She did cover about How fabric was done from the factory, the machines they use, some of the math conversion.. but one good thing is they have the notes for us to refer anytime. Best part I like is they have a notes that tells you what are the fabric advantages and disadvantages. We also learn how to see fabric and feel the fabric to get the feeling how is each fabric like.

I am so happy to make one friend in the class .. I wanna thank her for sharing the experience with me so I will know how the class like . And I think most likely its worth!

Currently now I’m still in textile processes class with another 5 more days and I will be going on a short trip holiday in Phuket ! Finally after so long of work ! Check out on my travel blog post soon!

Life : Taking Courses to Upgrade Myself

woman-1245817_1920

I was browsing through a website, is like a school. Was intro by one of my sister’s friend.

Everytime I wanted to attend something, the only thing I most worried is the fees. Well nothing’s free.

But this time I have heart of being brave to look through and enquiry about the school. That’s what my friend advise me too. So , I went to do it and I finally found some course that I can join and something that I can learn for myself .

There are a few things I wanted to take in and learn . But my boyfriend always told me “take one step at a time.” Haha. So each time he keep repeat to me cause I always wanted to do alot of things at one time. I just can’t help it . But now I slowly getting it and hope I can maintain it throughout the process.

img_4860

So! I told up this course which related to what I’m doing now ! SEWING ! Haha! And I quite excited to learn how to sew clothing ! As you can see my blog I did sewing on accessories and all but now ! I’m interested in making clothes ! 🤷🏼‍♀️ Ya I’m moving on to next step. So I took up a course “textile and textile process.” This course I bet it will be useful , it will let you understand more about fabrics and the tools we use. Sounds good to me !

Best is the most worried has gone! I don’t have to pay any fees other than $10 application fee, which means! I only pay a $10 fee to attend a course of 7 days?! And the course cost $80.25 for 1 module 7 lessons. To me is worth, cause I get to know the basic first before you go for any sewing classes. As I also want to know more about fabrics so that I know which fabrics to use for making what type of items.

Friday, 31 Aug 18 was my first class, the feeling for going school alone was boring and purpose is make new friends but I did manage to talk.. I was wondering what was my classmate first sight of me .. I was hoping to make new friends if not I will just enjoy my class! Our teacher was a Indian lady, and she seems very nice. Most important is I can understand the lesson and her speaking 😬. I think this is my main concern 😅.

The class provide us notes and tools for the activities that we have. But best is we can bring back the note for referring. 👍🏻!

I can say the class is quite entertaining, people share their thoughts and dreams on what they want to be in the future ! So wish me all the best ! 👍🏻🥂!

Paint Brush Hairs and Bristles

Paint Brush Hairs and Bristles

After knowing your paintbrushes, this is another part that needs to know about Brush Hair and Bristles.

Paint brushes are either made from natural hairs or synthetic hairs. They are soft and stiff. For soft brushes are good for thin paint which helps spread easily on watercolour paint, as well as detailed work. As for Stiff, hard brushes are used in the thick paint when using a certain technique in oil painting.

Nature hair or a Synthetic hair better?

Synthetic hair are man-made of either nylon or polyester works very well with acrylic paint, but can be damaged for natural hair brushes and a large painting.

However, brushes for acrylics can be used for oil and watercolour painting. Natural hair brushes for acrylics unless you are willing to replace it often cause it may ruin natural fibres quickly when you keep your brush in the water with the chemicals when painting with acrylics.

The synthetic hair brush is cheaper than Natural hair brushes. A good synthetic brush is rugged, can maintain the shape well and easy to be clean.

I would recommend synthetic hair brush but at the end of the day is still up to you to choose and decide what brush suites you well for your artwork.

Note: Cheap brush may not works well and your painting might not turn out perfect.

Natural Hairs Paintbrush

  • Sable

Sable has an ultimate soft brush which is made from the hairs on the tail of a sable. Sable brush can be pricey, but they are quite stable to use for flexibility and a fine point. As for Kolinsky Sable, they are from Siberia that has a tradition which considered as best hair for watercolour brushes, good for painting fine details and very thin paint.

  • Squirrel

Squirrel hair brush is soft with little spring. But larger squirrel brushes work better cause they have support from the hairs and also cheaper than Sable.

  • Hog/bristle

These brushes are best for oil painting. They can be used for both oils and acrylics. As you paint after a while, they will become softer. The hard brush hair is made from the back of a hog, which will give you strong yet springy hair. They are good for holding a large amount of paint.

  • Ox

brush-3175578_1920

Ox brushes are strong and springy hair. Mostly used in flat shaped brushes.

  • Pony

Pony hair brushes don’t work well as they don’t form a good point compared to goat ones. Can be found in watercolour brushes.

  • Goat

They form a good point, but its lacks of spring. Usually used in calligraphy and Chinese brush painting.

So, hope this guide helps you to understand what is Brush Bristle and Hairs.

5 Painting Essential Kit You Need for Painting Beginner

As a beginner for painting, the most frustrated thing to think of is what kind of brush should I get? Or how should I start with? Where to get the material with Budget price?

Let’s me share with you what I’ve experience.

Sometimes beginners may not know how does painting work or how to start . Especially for self learner. As for me I self learn drawing for myself as I love drawing and arts since I young. But now I’m moving on to painting. Just because I’ve interest in it and I want to try out myself.

What I did was:

– I watch thru video tutorials from other people first. Get to know what painting like, and understand how it works before getting materials. Because it’s Goanna be pricey for some material and if you don’t know what material you need , you goanna put a waste to it.

– You can also borrow books from library, or get online courses if you are not confident yet. Cause I myself also don’t have much confident too. It takes time to learn to get use to it. Feel free to go for classes, it really up to you. To me I just prefer to learn myself. ^^

So now you know some of my tips, let’s move on to the materials that you need to get for beginner painting! Here are the 5 essential kit needed for a painting beginner.

Sketch Pad

Sketch Pad is the first thing that I would buy, as for beginner you need to learn and get use to paint and practice on draft paper first before you move to actual painting on canvas. So get your own drawing block, draft and practice your skills first before you spend more money on the actual material.

Watercolour paint

For beginner, I would suggest to learn from watercolour paint if you just started. Cause I feel for watercolour is quite easy to learn and paint. I mean to me, this is one of the basic that we need to learn and understand before we move on to another step. But of cause the most basic step is to learn how to draw with pencil first. That is the very beginner step of an artist. If you know how to draw, everything shouldn’t be a problem. Just have to go with the basic step to start of with. If you feel comfortable with drawing, next step you can move on with painting with watercolour.

Watercolour are quite expensive if you are looking at brand. But normal like for 12 or 16 colours, but for 24 or 36 colours will be slightly expensive.

Paint palette

This is another tool that you need to have if you want to learn painting of cause. Some paint set come with a palette, so you don’t have to get another one. But palette are quite affordable. You can choose to get a separate one if you want too. This is optional to get if you are good to go with the set one, would be good to use for practice.

Easel

Easel have a few types like table easel or the Normal with stand. As for me I would prefer to get a table easel for starting and if you are really into painting, would be a good choice. Is affordable and I think is worth as a beginner painter. For the Normal ones, will be very pricey and usually people can’t afford it. But is okay to stick with the table ones. You can just save up the money and get one anytime once you get use to it.

Usually the easel are made of wood, I would recommend to get the wooden ones cause I find it more stable? And now there are also metal ones. which is more cheaper but I guess is still worth the buy.

Brushes

Brushes comes in lots of  different shapes and sizes. If you want to know more about brushes before you proceed your purchase, check out my post on “Understanding your Tools : Paint brush“.

Brushes will depends on how you want to do your art work, large or small painting. As for beginner I would suggest to get few sizes or you can go with what suites you best. Round pointed brushes is best, around size 3, medium 5-6, and large size 12.

I would recommend to get better quality ones, cause the cheaper ones not really good to use and the hair will keep drop off after using awhile. Sometimes, they do sell those with one set one at those small stationery shops, especially when they keep it for long time and the brush is like are quite bad quality.

You can get those that have sample and touchable ones. So that you can feel the brush and know what size you need.

Hope this post helps you get your right tools for beginner painting! This guide is base on what I experience, and I would like to share with all the beginner art lovers. Share with me yours too! ^^

Understanding your Painting Tool: Paint Brushes

img_4347

Once you learn painting, Paint brush is like your life tool. As you paint, you will slowly understand how the brush do the job for you and you will get familiar with the way the brushes handle the paint. This post will help you to understand and get the right paintbrush for your project!

Paintbrush comes in different sizes and shapes. What makes me bothering is Watercolours and Acrylic Paintbrush is it the same and can it be use for both?

Let me tell you what I know. I actually found out that the local Arts store do sell brushes that can be use for both Watercolours and Acrylic. So! It’s kind of convenient! Are you thinking what I’m thinking now? It’s good thou, cause you don’t have to get too many brushes! Just check the description on the package before you purchase anything! Ha Ha!

First, let’s learn more about brushes! Paintbrush makes you headache when choosing them cause they comes in really a lot of sizes and shapes which I don’t even know which to get.

So here is a guide on Understanding your Painting Tool: Paint Brush. Especially for beginner, It’s really kind of confusing while choosing the tools, There are too many types of brushes out there.

So, I did some research before I bought any of the tools. Let’s get to it:

Shape

There are 8 main shape for Acrylic, oils and watercolours. Each works on different techniques and level for painting.

RoundRound pointed tip.

Use for: Good for sketching, outlining and detailed work. Ccontrolled washes, filling in small areas. Also create thin and thick lines. The tip become wider when you pressed down using thinned paint better than thick paint.

Pointed Round –  It has a round Sharp pointed tip.

Use for: Helps to create thick and thin lines on your artwork. Fill in areas of a painting, small and tight spaces and also adding detail to painting.

Flat – This is flat, have a square end.

Use for: Can be use for bold strokes, washes, also filling wide spaces. The edges can use it to create fine lines and stripes. *Recommended for Beginner.

Bright – is flat with curved edge inward tip. It’s hairs is short.

Use for: Good for working up close work. Works well with strokes, thick lines.

Filbert – has a flat and oval shape end.

Use for: For blending, touch up on rounded edges.

Angular Flathas a angled flat end.

Use for: curved strokes, filling corners and also small areas. Uses similar to flat brush.

FanThis brush looks like a fan shape, Spread hairs.

Use for: good for feathering, leaves on trees. If you are using it for Acrylic painting, I suggest to use strong ones, to prevent the hairs clumped when paint.

Detail Round The hairs and handle are short and round.

Use for: Details and short strokes of cause.

Understanding your paintbrush

Paint brush have 4 main parts: img_4345.jpg

Sizes

Paint brush also come in different sizes, sometimes is kind of confusing to choose which size to get. Cause there are really too many! From 0 to size 24. Usually beginner can start off with mid size which is 6 to 8. Then slowly once you get used to it, you can move on to other sizes you need according to your painting style.

As for my own suggestion, I will recommend to get 3 type of brush first. Flat, Round Pointed and Detail. For the size can get a 3, 6, & 12 for Round Pointed. I feel this is the most basic brush size to get for starting. It’s also depends on which size you prefer, and what project you are doing, just do what works for you well.

So, hope this guide will help you on finding your tools for your painting. Feel free to share with me your idea ^^.
